Lodge staff administer first aid to guest

Waterberry Hill Lodge staff trained in first aid

Maurice Hare, 70, who was on holiday at Waterberry Hill, fell and sustained minor injuries on Tuesday, November 12. Mr Hare, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease and is unable to speak, went for a short walk to do some bird watching. He slipped and fell and then rolled down a small embankment.

“All our staff is trained in basic first aid,” says Anthea van der Merwe, personal assistant Waterberry Hill, “We immediately stabilised Mr Hare. He had a very good medical aid and could afford to have a helicopter take him through to Medi Clinic Nelspruit. Our guest liaison, Izak Mpoane accompanied Mrs Margaret Hare to the hospital.”

According to Waterberry Hill they were informed by the hospital that Mr Hare suffered a broken nose. “We have been in contact daily with the hospital to check on his progress,” continues van der Merwe. Mr Horne was released form Medi Clinic on Thursday November 14. The Hazyview Herald has been informed that Mr Horne is recovering so well that they have extended their holiday in Hazyview.
