Armed Burglary at lodge on Sabie road

Criminals flee empty handed

Mountain Creek Lodge on the Sabie Road near Hazyview was burgled by four criminals at approxamitely 03:00 this morning.

The robbers were armed with 9mm pistols. At the time of the incident there were no guests at the lodge.

It is fitted with security fences, gates, panic buttons and two guards are on patrol at all times. The criminals gained access by lifting the gate off its rails.

They over powered the guards and tied them up. The thieves then broke into two chalets and stole a variety of items. While making their escape, the criminals activated an outside beam alerting Hi-Tech Security of their presence. The alarm sirens went off causing the criminals to drop all the stolen items and run away.

A TRC unit, Hazyview SAPS and the White River dog unit also attended to the crime scene.
