Round Tabler dies in accident

Approximately 10 kilometres from the four-way stop at Mediclinic, Fourie apparently lost control of his silver BMW and the vehicle crashed into a tree on the opposite side of the road down a slight embankment.

BARBERTON – On Friday, between 00:15 and 01:00, old Barbertonian and Round Table chairman, Fanie Fourie (39), died in a car accident.

Fourie, who was on his way to Malalane where he lived with his wife Lerusha and children Luandie and SJ, attended a Round Table meeting earlier on Thursday night.

Approximately 10 kilometres from the four-way stop at Mediclinic, Fourie apparently lost control of his silver BMW and the vehicle crashed into a tree on the opposite side of the road down a slight embankment.

Fellow Round Tabler, Stephen Lea said, “Fanie was the longest-serving Round Tabler in Mpumalanga with 13 years of service and he was Barberton’s 67th chairman. He will be sorely missed and his family is in our prayers during this difficult time.”

The funeral will be held at the Onderberg Church at 37 Park Street in Malalane on Thursday December 5 at 12:00.
