STEELPOORT – Modikwa’s annual interdepartment tournament took place last Saturday and the crowds gathered together to watch all the action. The games kicked off with curtain-raisers between Tsetse Fly and Bigo Trading. Tsetse Fly beat Bigo by one goal.
The tournament involved all the departments on the mine as part of improving the health and relationship of all the workers including the HODs. All together 16 teams took part in the soccer tournament while five teams from each business area partook in the netball tournament.
South shafts employees impressed when both of their teams ended up competing against each other in the final for the ultimate title of the 2013 tournament winners.
The match was very exciting as employees from Engineering and Section 2 from South Shaft battle it out for honours. The game ended with Section 2 beating Engineering by 3-2.
Man of the match was Cedric Phoku from Section 2 who contributed to his team winning the games.
In the netball tournament North Shaft came out tops by winning all their games and Central was in second place.
The Kgomotso team of North Shaft came third and the defending champions South Shaft ended in fourth place.
