Two in court again for attempted murder

The assault made headlines last year as it was captured on CCTV cameras

NELSPRUIT – A man and a woman who are accused of attempted murder are set to appear again in court on Monday. Ms Carmen Brown and Mr Cat Smit (40), ) a former shareholder of Tango Blue Club , appeared in court last week for allegedly severely assaulting Mr Johan (Panner) Cronje (33), the father of two toddlers.

The incident took place on July 4, 2013 at the Engen filling station on the R40. The assault was recorded on CCTV footage. Cronjé fought for 22 days for his life in the intensive care unit of the Mediclinic Nelspruit.

The case was postponed until Monday for trial.

Both are out on R1000 bail.
