Ruling party treats the community’s elderly citizens to lunch

SCHOEMANSDAL – On Sunday, the provincial chairman of the ANC,
Mr David Mabuza brought some comfort to elderly citizens in the subregion who had complained about the ill treatment they had received during the party’s manifesto launch held in Mbombela.
Mabuza came in person to apologise and as a gesture the ANC slaughtered six cows and treated the elders to lunch.
For some it was simply just not good enough, as they complained about being starved the whole day.
“Yes they have cooked for us and we ate today but that does not change the fact that we had to stay hungry throughout the whole manifesto from 05:00 when I left until after 17:00 without eating a thing,” said gogo Agnes Maziya.
She also said that as old people they suffered from a lot of illnesses, so it was therefore not ideal for them to go a whole day without food.
“I personally have ulcers and I suffered that Saturday.
My children ended up blaming me for going to Mbombela Stadium as they were not happy about me going from the start,” Maziya elaborated.
Meanwhile some elders welcomed and appreciated the apologetic gesture and commended the party for fixing the mistakes they made on that day.
“Sending the provincial chairman to apologise in this way show they still value us and if people repent, it shows that they have noticed their mistake,” said Ms Philisiwe Shabangu.
“I also plead to those who went to Mbombela Stadium to forgive and set aside their grudge as the ANC has rectified their mistake,” Shabangu concluded.
Mabuza spoke proudly of Nkomazi being the most ANC voters in the province in previous elections.
He said that Nkomazi had been given ANC more than 90 per cent in the previous elections and pleaded for 100 per cent in the upcoming one.
“If we can receive the a 100 per cent vote we will return and have a whole-day celebration,” said Mabuza.
He also urged Nkomazi residents who passed their matric and those at universities to return and develop Nkomazi whenever they are finished
with their studies.
“Nkomazi is one of the poor municipalities in the province and it has a high unemployed rate so they should come back here as education is an everlasting investment,” said Mabuza.
