KOMATIPOORT – A night out ended horrifically for a local 33-year-old woman on Saturday.

She was raped, but doesn’t know by whom. The victim said she had been invited by a friend to the local rugby club.

The sports bar, called Sin Bin officially opened its doors on Saturday at 12:00 .

The victim went there that night. She went to the dance floor, leaving her drink unattended at the bar counter. After a while the woman returned to finish it, but shortly thereafter she started to feel slightly dizzy and informed her friends that she wanted to go home.

At that time she noticed a friend’s wallet on the counter and decided to place it in her bag for safe keeping. She left the pub at about 21:30.

The victim said she awoke on Sunday at her home and saw that her friends were present.

Upon questioning them, they asked whether she could remember what had happened the previous evening.

They then informed her that they had found her at about 01:00 in her vehicle in the parking area, naked and covered in mud.

The contents of her purse had laid strewn in the car and some personal belongings were missing, as well as the wallet that she had taken for safe keeping.

The victim was then taken to Tonga Hospital later that day where tests were conducted to determine if she was drugged and what substance could have been used. Tests confirmed that she had been drugged and raped.

She was given medication to assist with the side effects of the drug she had been given. A rape case is currently under investi-gation by the Tonga Family Child Protection Services.

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is requested to contact the investigation officer Const Shadrick Magagula on
