House robbery suspect denied bail

The man's arrest came after he allegedly cut a household in Vlakbuilt's cable and threatened the life of one of the female occupants with a knife.

TONGA – On Friday April 4 a 27-year-old male appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on a charge of house robbery.

This was the accused’s second appearance after he was apprehended on Sunday March 30. He was again denied bail.

The man’s arrest came after he allegedly cut a household in Vlakbuilt’s cable and threatened the life of one of the female occupants with a knife.

According to police, he fled the scene with a handbag belonging to the victim, which contained an undisclosed amount of money and a cellphone.

The man is expected to reappear on Monday April 7 to reapply for bail.
