BREAKING NEWS: Man-hunt underway for swindler

The suspect is 34 years old with short shaved dark hair and a small goatee. As far as is known he drives a silver VW Polo.

MBOMBELA – Bossies Community Justice (BCJ) has launched an urgent search for Werner Desouza Ferreira (34). According to Mr Jacques Meiring from BCJ, Ferreira has swindled local businesses out of about R41 000 to date.

He says Ferriera poses as a policeman who is part of the dog unit in White River and the police’s tactical response unit. He pretends to raise funds for girls who have been the victims of sexual assault and who are cared for by “Engeltjies van Bet-El”.

Meiring says he could find no record of such a place existing. The list of donations Ferreira already received shows that businesses donate between R1 000 – R3 000 each. The funds are paid into an Absa bank account.

According to Meiring the man’s identity document as well as all the addresses and telephone numbers he provides donors with are fake.

He says anyone who has given Ferriera money must report the fraud to the police immediately. Anyone who sees Ferreira or know where he is must contact Meiring urgently at 082-567-5212.
