Barberton SAPS have seized a wide range of suspected stolen items believed to have been looted during multiple house break-ins across Umjindi. Now, police are hoping to return the property to their rightful owners.
According to Const Tutu Nkosi, Barberton police spokesman, the police may have recovered their stolen items of people who fell victim to this crime in recent months.
“Barberton detectives and police officers recently executed multiple search warrants which resulted in the recovery of significant numbers of items previously stolen during burglaries. Police are asking members of the public to visit the Barberton station to assist in identifying their stolen property. Police are hoping to return the items to their rightful owners,” said Nkosi.
The items rage from cellphones, cameras, flash drives, speaker boxes and stereos to jewellery, TV sets, DV player, laptops and CDs.
Four house robbery cases had been opened in the month of June alone. If anyone believes their property is among any of the seized items, they can call 013-712-2222.
Meanwhile, the community are urged to be vigilant at all times. “We request the community to lock their house doors and windows during the night and when there is no one at home. They must also promote neighbourhood watch in order to prevent criminal activities, especially burglaries,” said Nkosi.
