Suspects apprehended for cash loans robbery

Two men were arrested and two vehicles seized during a successful manhunt for robbers who targeted a cash-loan business in Station Street on Friday July 11.

MALALANE – Two men were arrested and two vehicles seized during a successful manhunt for robbers who targeted a cash-loan business in Station Street on Friday July 11.

Police immediately embarked on a manhunt for the perpetrators.

The local SAPS informed Malalane Against Crime (MAC) of an orange Polo Playa which was identified as the getaway vehicle.They also informed the public of the incident via a MAC SMS. During the search in and around town the local SAPS received information from residents in Hectorspruit that a vehicle matching the description of the Polo was heading to Komatipoort at high speed.

“Farmers found the Polo on the Strydom Block Road but the suspects were nowhere to be seen.”

Another suspect vehicle, a Renauld Sandero, was then cornered on a farm in Komatipoort and its occupants allegedly fled into an orchard. Two of them were apprehended.

According to police spokesman Const Bheki Nkosi the men will appear in court today, July 14. He said, “It is suspected that there were three men involved, one is allegedly an employee of the company. They managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money. All of the cash was recovered and two suspects apprehended on Friday.”
