Tonga murder suspects appear in court

TONGA – On Friday August 22 Mr Siyabonga Masilela (24) and Mr Ndumiso Mahlalela (21) appeared in the Tonga Magistrate’s Court.

Masilela had been in police custody since February and Mahlalela since March this year.

They had both been charged with murder, attempted murder, housebreaking, theft, robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of unlicensed firearms.

According to police spokesman Lt Mzwandine Nyambi, the court appearance had again been postponed to September 26.

“The suspects were awaiting their High Court date. They would still be kept in police custody,” said Nyambi.
