VIDEO: Pupil stabbed in playground fight

An unarmed Kamhola High School learner in Emjindini was stabbed last Friday during a fight with a fellow learner.

EMJINDINI- An unarmed Kamhola High School learner in Emjindini was stabbed last Friday during a fight with a fellow learner.  According to Sibusiso Madonsela (21), a grade-11 learner, the fight started between him and a pupil who poured urine on him.

Another learner appeared from the large crowd that was watching the fight and stabbed Sibusiso twice in the left side of his chest.

Barberton Times has viewed a cellphone video, presumably recorded by a learner, which shows the two fighting and another group of learners, including the one carrying the knife, joining in to attack Mandonsela.

Kamhola principal, Mr Joel Ntuli, said he was unaware about the incident when called for comment yesterday. He, however, promised to investigate it.

Madondela claims that the Barberton Police Station refused to open a case on Saturday.

Const Tutu Nkosi, police spokesman, said no one can be denied to open a case. “We urge the victim to come to the station to open a case and if denied, he must request to see the station commander, Col Sunbright Ndlovu,” she said.

Meanwhile, the pupil who was attacked is recovering at home, and has yet to return to school. He sustained minor injuries and was treated at Barberton Provicial Hospital, where he was discharged the same day.
