Serial rapist found guilty

Offender found guilty of rape, attempted murder, assault, theft and kidnapping

MBOMBELA – Pre-sentencing procedures drew to a close in the Gauteng Circuit of the High Court of South Africa in Mbombela today after Timothy Danger Magagula (37) was found guilty on several charges of rape.

Judge Mr Francis Legodi convicted Magagula on nine counts of rape, nine counts of attempted murder, two charges of assault with the intent of inflicting grievous bodily harm, one count of theft and three counts of kidnapping.

Lowvelder previously reported on the facts of the case that involved Magagula luring his victims by offering them employment. He would then accompany them to secluded areas, overwhelm them and rape them.  When met with resistance, threats of violence was used to gain the upper hand over his victims.

The offender was HIV positive while raping the women.
