Second Hazyview serial rapist to be sentenced

Victims expected to attend the sentencing of the second serial rapist to be found guilty in two months.

MBOMBELA – A second Hazyview serial rapist is due for sentencing.

Sentencing is expected to resume shortly after Timothy Danger Magagula (37) was found guilty on several charges of rape in the Gauteng Circuit of the High Court of South Africa in Mbombela.

Judge Mr Francis Legodi convicted Magagula on nine counts of rape, nine counts of attempted murder, two charges of assault with the intent of inflicting grievous bodily harm, one count of theft and three counts of kidnapping.

This conviction follows shortly after serial rapist Hendry Shai (30) of Shabalala Trust near Hazyview was sentenced to a 100 years imprisonment after being found guilty of raping and robbing five women in the Nelspruit Regional court. This sentence was imposed in August.
