Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and captain, Senzo Meyiwa, was shot dead at his girfriend’s apartment at Vosloorus on Sunday Evening at approximately 22:00.
Three suspects fled on foot after the shooting. Meyiwa was proclaimed dead on arrival from a fatal gunshot wound.
The tragic news has had the football fraternity in tears over the shot stopper’s untimely passing.
“This is a sad loss whichever way you look at it – to Senzo’s family , his extended family, Orlando Pirates and to the nation”, commented Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza.
A reward of up to R150,000 is also being offered for any information that can lead to arrests, according to SAPS official Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale.
National Police Commisioner, Rhia Phiyega, will hold a press conference later today to give an update on Meyiwa’s shooting.
