Couple celebrates six decades

LYDENBURG – Great grandparents, Peter and Christine Kurten, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 29.
Married life is still wonderful for this couple, who tied the knot in 1954 in Krugersdorp and moved to the Orange Free State in 1960.
Peter was born in Middledrift, King William’s Town and grew up in East London. Christine grew up in Porterville in the Cape.
It is not always the distance travelled, but the view that is remembered the most. Decades have passed and some say it is magic that kept the two together and perfectly in sync with each other.
They have seven children, 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Relatives say they praise the Lord for the time they have spent together, the example they set, and all the blessings shared.
Their sons Chris and Peter Jr, along with the rest of their family, congratulated the lovebirds.
“Thank you Mom and Dad for setting a good example, and for these lessons in love. We want to wish you well and we love you dearly.”
As the shadows lengthen and we look down a road well-known and travelled by many, very few can boast the distance that these two have completed.
