Man in court on charge of rape
On November 3, a 23-year-old man, Mr Teddy Mabunda of Mzinti appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping his friend’s girlfriend.
TONGA – On November 3, a 23-year-old man, Mr Teddy Mabunda of Mzinti appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping his friend’s girlfriend.
According to the victim who is 21 years old, she was at a local tavern with her boyfriend and Mabunda, when they all decided to go to sleep. According to police spokesman Lt Mzwandile Nyambi, the three planned to sleep over at the accused’s house, but when they arrived, Mabunda decided to go back to the tavern. He locked the two guests inside the house and left.
According to the victim she does not know when he came back. When he started assaulting her, she screamed for help and her boyfriend woke up.
“A case of rape was opened at Tonga Police Station and the suspect was arrested. He appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court and was released on R1 000 bail. He will appear again on December 1,” said Nyambi.
