LYDENBURG – Jan Neethling wowed the audience with foot tapping and romantic songs from by gone days on Monday morning during his Relive the Romance show at De Ark guest house’s Rambling Rose Tea Garden.
He took his audience on a nostalgic tour of Afrikaans and English classics and had them humming the words of “When I grow too old to dream”, “Smoke gets in your eyes”, “Love me tender, love me true” and songs from the musicals.
Neethling is among the many performers who will be on stage during the arts festival.
As spectator Cobie Steinberg commented, “Jan’s voice is natural and amazingly good. We are so privileged to have him as a local.”
For two weeks the public will enjoy a variety of shows, from poetry sessions and drama to panel discussions and music by guest artists.
Some shows are free of charge with complementary tea and eats.
