LYDENBURG – Community members celebrated Halloween in style at Legends on Friday night. People dressed up in various costumes and the best-dressed revelers won a prize.

Halloween is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on October 31.

The celebration includes costume parties, watching horror movies and carving lanterns out of pumpkins.

The day originated among Europe’s Celtic pagans and it is slowly gaining momentum in South Africa.

Ella and Pieter Grobler, two of the guests who attended the social gathering, took first place and won prizes. Ella was dressed up as a blood vampire bride and Pieter as Dracula with a red tongue.

Everyone played their various characters to perfection and from their appearance it was obvious they took time to prepare for the night.
