Rob Ferreira strike turns violent
Even though previous reports stated that Dr Leif Brauteseth was assaulted by the mob, it came to light in the most recent report that allegations of his assault was in fact not true.
MBOMBELA – On Friday Lowvelder reported on yet another strike at Rob Ferreira where at least 60 staff members of the hospital, including members of National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) protested against lack of uniforms, cleaning aids, overtime, computers and medication.
The protest action on this day was seemingly addressed and calmed, however today the situation at the hospital deteriorated and strikers voiced out their frustrations in what soon became increasingly violent.
Even though previous reports stated that Dr Leif Brauteseth was assaulted by the mob, it came to light in the most recent report that allegations of his assault was in fact not true. He did indeed sustain a head injury in a minor incident on the scene, but was back at work shortly thereafter. Lowvelder apologizes for any confusion or inconvenience caused.
Unconfirmed rumors states that the hospital has been set on fire. The entrance to the hospital was indeed barricaded with logs and rubbish which was set alight but no fire was reported near/in the hospital.
