One of the province’s most-wanted suspects was shot and killed during an attempted cash-in-transit heist on October 21. SAPS provincial spokesman Brig Selvy Mohlala said security guards of Blinkwater Mills were collecting cash from one of the company’s containers in Masoyi when they were approached by two suspects. One of them pointed a firearm at the guards and tried getting into the driver’s seat by climbing over the rear seats, while the other approached the front of the vehicle from the outside.
The security guard immediately drove off, leaving the second suspect in the dust. The robber shot at the vehicle, attempting to stop it, but a bullet hit his colleague inside the vehicle instead, killing him.
Mohlala said police have opened an inquest as well as a case of attempted armed robbery.
