Driver who hit motorcycle appeared in court, was granted bail

The case was postponed and will continue on December 10.

A 32-year old man appeared in the Nelspruit District Court yesterday on a charge of reckless and negligent driving after his illegal u-turn allegedly caused an acccident on Monday.

Mr Micheal Ngumane drove a taxi that collided with a motorbike on Monday morning in front of Rob Ferreira hospital.

The alleged cause of the accident is said to have been this illegal u-turn – according to photos taken on the accident scene, he made a u-turn accross the painted island between the hospital and the Sonpark shopping centre. He did this despite clear traffic signs that prohibit this.

This rider of the motorcycle, 17-year old Justin Wiggill, was slightly injured.

Ngumane’s case was postponed to December 10 2014 and he was released on bail of R500.
