School recognises and wards excellence
Kaapmuiden Primary School celebrated their top achievers this past week. Learners' academic, sport and cultural achievements learners were recognised.

KAAPMUIDEN – Kaapmuiden Primary School celebrated their top achievers this past week. Learners’ academic, sport and cultural achievements learners were recognised. The victrix and victor ludorum were given to Linet Shongwe and Sboniso Zulu respectively.
Learners who excel at academics aim to reach a total of 1 200 points during the year. These points calculate their academic standard throughout the year; a learner with a total of from 960 to 1 200 points receives gold certificate, from 840 to 959 a silver, and from 720 to 839 a bronze. The top achievers in grade 1 were Ayanda Ngwenya in third place with 962 points, Rolihlanhla Mokoena in second place with 965 points and Bandile Moyane in first place with 983 points. In grade 2, Hope Magagula achieved 983 points which put her in third place, Nkosi Awande came second with 1 011 points and Bathabile Molipa first with 1 027 points. The grade 3 learners did just as well with Lusanda Phangisa receiving 988 points which put her in third place, Lifa Mthethwa came second with 1 000 points, and Lungelo Mthimkhulu first with a whopping 1 050 points, which is a marvellous achievement.
The learners from grade 4 to 6 can obtain a total of 1 800 points. Grade 4s Mpho Nkosi came third with 1 269 points, Lungile Samboi in second with 1 270 points and Lunga Mashabane in first with 1 320 points. Grade 5s’ third-place winner was Nosipho Masuku with 1 324 points, Nkosikwanele Phiri in second place with 1 472 points and Wandile Maphanga in first with 1 508 points. The grade 6 learners did just as well with Nkosazana Nkosi in third place with 1 321 points, Fezile Shabangu in second with 1 363 points and Teddy Makhubela in first with 1 440. The grade 7s can obtain 2 700 points, and here Khanyisile Mhlongo came third with 2 002 points, Brightly Shongwe came second with 2 029 points and in first place was Dineo Thibela with a whopping 2 166 points. Dineo was also awarded DUX learner of the year.
Best performances in grades 4 to 7 per subject were rewarded by means of a book prize. Entrepreneur of the Year was awarded to grade 7 learner, Nompumelelo Sambo.
