GRASKOP – Lloyd Mabuza and Violet Chauke were both found guilty of human trafficking and rape in the Graskop Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The reason behind their different sentences make complete sense.
He received eight life sentences and she received a suspended sentence of 20 years in prison.
Magistrate Dr Andries Lamprecht’s reasoning behind these different sentences makes sense when the totality of evidence is taken into account. It has transpired that Lloyd has been committing these deeds for years. Although none of the previous victims have been located except for those who were involved in the trial, the state and the victims can celebrate a milestone in the war against human trafficking.
Lloyd Mabuza will never be able to lure victims again.
