Wild weather – watch how twister wreaks havoc in SA

In other parts of South Africa, areas such as Bloodriver and Soweto, residents have been tormented by mild tornados.

MBOMBELA – The Lowveld has been experiencing some wet and stormy weather for the past two weeks. A typical summer day reaches highs of 24°C, with predicted thuderstorms and wind – as is the forecast for today.

However, Lowvelders can still appreciate the fact that things have not taken a turn for the worst – yet.

In other parts of South Africa, areas such as Bloodriver and Soweto, residents have been tormented by mild tornados. Yesterday, Lowvelder’s sister publication Vryheid Herald reported on the tornado which hit Bloodriver on Saturday afternoon. The paper reported that the tornado was “the second to strike Northern KZN in the same week, the third in South Africa”.

Just as it seemed the dust had settled, new reports of another tornado which hit Soweto surfaced. A mini-tornado reportedly raged through the streets during a severe storm yesterday, November 24.  “Three houses in Protea Glen were apparently destroyed and over 30 others were also damaged,” accodring to Eye Witness News.  No injuries were reported.

People have taken to social media, specifically Twitter to post photos of the tornado in action as well as the aftermath.
