Social grants to be paid out earlier

SASSA beneficiaries will be receiving their grants from tomorrow to give them enough time to prepare for the festive season.

All beneficiaries of social grants will be able to buy their Christmas groceries early this year. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) announced today that social grants will be paid out earlier due to the coming festive season.

The December payment cycle will start tomorrow (November 27) until December 13. SASSA advises beneficiaries to work carefully with their money as the next payment cycle will only start during the first week of January 2015.

The reason for the early payments are to give SASSA beneficiaries enough time to prepare for the festive season and avoid the Chrismas shopping rush.

Minister of Social Development Bathabile Dlamini, Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu and management would like to wish all social grant beneficiaries and their families a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

“As we are now entering the festive season, I urge you all to be extra careful with your SASSA cards and pin codes. Please do not give your SASSA cards and pin codes to anyone including loan sharks. Enjoy this period to the fullest with your loved ones,” Dlamini stated.
