MBOMBELA – The North Gauteng High Court recently granted Cefups Academy an interim relief order, allowing the controversial school to remain open.
Following the death of a learner earlier this year, the Mpumalanga Department of Education had earlier decided to withdraw the school’s registration as of the beginning of 2015.
The relief granted to the school by the court will allow Cefups to remain operational beyond January 1, until their application for a review is heard and adjudicated next year.
The department said in a statement last week that it was opposed to the idea, but would abide by the court’s decision.
“The view of the department is that the matter still remains sub judice.”
