A total of 85,45 per cent of candidates qualified to study for degrees while 11,56 per cent achieved the requirements to study for a diploma.

According to Umalusi, Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training, the matric class of 2014 achieved the worst result since the subject was introduced. In physical science, pupils also performed worse than in 2013 according to Umalusi.
