A motorist who was on his way to Malalane died when he allegedly tried to overtake a vehicle and hit two oncoming ones en route to Mbombela. The accident occured at about 17:30.
According to Mr. Willem Swart, a tow-in operator of Van Wettens, a preliminary investigation suggested that the driver of a Toyota Tazz was involved in a collision with two oncoming vehicles when he attempted to overtake. The accident took place at the Mabalel turn-off.
Three more passengers were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
