
According to police, Mr Clive Bowers (60) and his partner, Ms Renate Wagner, were disturbed from their sleep by noise in the house at about 23:30.
They locked themselves in their bedroom.The robbers, however, kicked the door open and Bowers was shot twice. He died on the scene.
The suspects reportedly fled with a television and the couple’s cellphones.
Private security guards and the police worked together to search for the criminals. The television, as well as a firearm believed to have been used in the crime, were recovered.
The acting provincial commissioner Maj Gen Meshack Nogwanya called upon the community to help the police find the suspects. “We urge the community to assist with credible information that may assist the police to crack down and dismantle this notorious gang before they kill another person. Such people do not deserve any freedom within the society as it is evident that they are determined to kill, hence they murdered Bowers,” he stated

Bossies Community Justice (BCJ) has offered a reward of up to R50 000 for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. Mr Jacques Meiring, operational manager, can be contacted on 082-567-5212.
According to a post on BCJ’s Facebook page on Monday, Bundu Estate has pledged an additional reward of R35 000 for the above-mentioned information.
