Main line leak; no power to certain areas in town

LYDENBURG – Several areas in town have been without electricity since yesterday afternoon. It has now been established that the main electricity cable line, which connects with Rooidraai substation has a leak.

Because this is a high voltage power leak, experts from Johannesburg has been contracted in to help identify the leak.  The newspaper were informed that the contractors are on their way and is about 50 km away from town.

DA Councillor, Mr Nicko Janse van Vuuren said that residents should please be patient as the problem is being attended to. “We hope to have those areas affected up and running by 19:00 tonight.”
