Last remains of Nigerian tragedy victims to arrive in Mpumalanga today

MBOMBELA – The mortal remains of the last six of 24 people from Mpumalanga that were successfully repatriated from Nigeria yesterday by the national government will finally arrive in the province later today.
In total 116 people died when the building of the Synagogue Church of All Nations collapsed in November. The death toll included 84 South Africans.
Of the remaining six mortal remains that will arrive today, two are from Nkomazi (Mzinti and Sidlamafa), two from Bushbuckridge (Thulamahashe), one from Umjindi (Barberton) and the other one is from Steve Tshwete (Middelburg). The other 18 mortal remains were repatriated and received by their respective families for burial in November last year.

Families have once again been advised during the counseling sessions not to view the mortal remains since they are in an extreme bad state of decomposition and disfigurement. Government has assured them that the DNA tests conducted have been verified and families will be burying the correct remains.
The remains are expected to arrive at Themba Hospital at 16:00.
