School gets drums to beat dirt on street
"People will have to try hard to miss these bins"
Street clean.
MBOMBELA – For the past few months Figtree Street has been an eyesore to many motorists travelling past Lowveld High School.
However, this has changed since 20 brand-new dustbins were delivered to the school on Monday. According to Lowveld High, it was very challenging to keep the street clean as the taxi rank is opposite the entrance.
“For the past three years we made several attempts to address the issue and even tried to get permission for it to be moved, but to no avail,” a spokesman said.
But the school did not lose hope and the 20 blue bins bearing its logo as well as the message, “Help us keep Figtree Street clean”, will be a great help.
“People will have to try hard to miss these bins,” Ms Francina du Plessis, Lowveld High’s marketing manager said with a smile. According to her they will be placed from the entrance all the way down to the corner of the sport fields. “We are extremely happy about this wonderful gift. Many of the people believe it is the schoolkids only who litter, but in fact, we are really trying hard to keep it clean,” a group of learners said.
Lowveld High expressed its gratitude towards the two business owners who donated the bins and promised to continue working hard to help keep Mbombela clean.
