MBOMBELA – The chief executive of the recently opened Kiaat Private Hospital resigned earlier this month. Dr Corné Ackerman says she is done with hospital administration and is returning to private practice.
A former CEO of Rob Ferreira Hospital, Ackerman joined Kiaat when it opened its doors in October.
She was suspended from the hospital in December. The reasons for this were not clear.
The CEO of the hospital’s managing company Nozala Health Partners (NHP) Mr Tony Lundin, said he couldn’t comment on the suspension as it was an internal matter. NHP is a joint venture between health-care company Health Partners and Nozala Investments.
Ackerman told Lowvelder last week that she had resigned. She would not give any details on the split, explaining only that both parties had agreed on confidentiality.
In the meantime Lundin will act as hospital manager until a new chief has been appointed. “We are in the process of selecting a new hospital manager and as soon as the appointment has been made we will make a public announcement.”
Ackerman plans to specialise in shoulder surgery from a private practice at Nelmed Forum as of March.
