
The policeman accused of stealing a laptop from the Office of the Premier has to return to court on February 24.
Const Promise Mashego (27) was arrested by the SAPS after he allegedly stole an Apple MacBook from the office of premier Mr David Mabuza. The laptop’s value is estimated at R28 500.
Mashego was charged with theft as well as being found in possession of stolen goods. CCTV footage of the incident, allegedly showing a man dressed in a police uniform taking a laptop into his possession, has reportedly been obtained by the investigators.
Mashego appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on January 26 where his case was postponed for a month. He has been released on bail of R1 000.
