Whizz kids rewarded for their dedication

MBOMBELA – Hundreds of learners from the Mbombela Circuit were rewarded for dedication and hard work during the 2014 academic year during a prestigious award ceremony at Hoërskool Nelspruit on Friday.
Although the circuit did not meet its target and its manager, Musa Linkwati, expressed his disappointment in this regard, he still congratulated the pupils on their exceptional achievements in the annual nation-assessment examination.
According to Linkwati, the circuit only delivered 628 learners who obtained a pass to study for a bachelors, while the target was set on 750.
“We already did some introspection and realised that we have to become stricter in order for us to move forward.” He said they were aiming for a 95 per cent pass rate this year and hoped to reach the 750 bachelors pass-rate mark.
Thirty schools attended the award ceremony during which the top learner from each grade received a medal and certificate. The most improved schools with regard to the grade 12 results in 2014, were also mentioned and both private and public schools with the highest pass rate for bachelors degrees were acknowledged.
The most improved schools were Watershed College, Edgeview Academy, Cyril Clarke Academy and Advisory College. The public school with the highest pass rate for bachelors degrees for 2014 was awarded to Hoërskool Nelspruit and the private school was Cefups Academy.
“We are extremely proud of each and every learner present today and we wish them the very best for this academic year,” Linkwati concluded.
