Morning accident claims yet another life

A second victim has passed away as a result of this morning’s accident on the N4 between town and Marloth Park.

HECTORSPRUIT – A second victim has passed away as a result of this morning’s accident on the N4 between town and Marloth Park.

According to information gathered on the scene, the truck driver was overtaking another vehicle and failed to do so in time when the incident happened.

A delayed reaction by the van resulted in the fatal collision of the Immigration Services an which was travelling towards Malalane with three occupants.

The van collided with the rear tyres of truck that was travelling towards Komatipoort.

The driver of the van, who has currently only been identified as,Charles, died on the accident scene.

It is believed that the nature of the impact resulted in his death.

Two people were transported to Tonga Hospital by Securicon Ambulance Services with serious injuries, one of them a foreign national from Nigeria, the other an Immigrations official.

“The Nigerian died on his way to the hospital, and other victim was airlifted to Mediclinic Nelspruit from Tonga Hospital, via the provincial helicopter. Because his condition was too unstable to be transported via road to the hospital.”

The truck driver was taken into police custody, and taken to Komatipoort Police Station.
