NPO in need of a helping hand

For the past few months the non-profit organisation had to turn down more than 45 underprivileged families who are suppose to receive parcels every second Wednesday of the week.

LYDENBURG – Lydenburg Christian Social Council/Christelike Maatskaplike Raad (CMR) is struggling to provide food for the less fortunate.

For the past few months the non-profit organisation had to turn down more than 45 underprivileged families who are suppose to receive parcels every second Wednesday of the week.

The CMR is a welfare organisation that is an umbrella body representing more than 20 member organisations and a large number of outreach projects in communities throughout Mpumalanga.

Mellisa McCabe, admin officer of CMR, said that the past months had been hard for them since they had to tell people that they would not be able to help them, because they did not have any food to hand out.
“The need for food is increasing every day.

We would like to ask the community, businesses, local churches and other organisations to help us make a difference, because these families are really struggling to make ends meet,” said McCabe.

“We need non-perishable products, such as rice, sugar, pasta, soya mince and canned food. Those who can help may drop the products off at our offices or contact Christelike Maatskaplike Raad (CMR) on 013-235-2407,” she said.
