Vehicle hit toddler on Consort Mine Road

The child ran out from behind a stationary bus when a driver from Protea Coin hit her. She died on impact.

On Friday just before 07:00 a four-year-old girl died on the Consort Mine Road. According to Capt Deon Höll of the Barberton SAPS, the child ran out from behind a stationary bus when a driver from Protea Coin, who was travelling well within the speed limit, hit her. She died on impact.

Although she did not get off the bus, but lived close to where the bus stop was, Barberton Times’ concern was that there were no road signs to indicate that there was one ahead and that motorists should be on the lookout for passengers getting off the bus.

The SAPS urged road users to be observant when approaching stationary vehicles.
