Development to breathe new life into town

DeRust Lifestyle Estate, a new township development, is finally getting off the ground after years of planning.

A new township development close to the R40 and the town centre is finally getting off the ground after years of planning and negotiations.

DeRust Lifestyle Estate will breathe new life into Hazyview and expand the town. Sixty new stands are to be erected within the next year as part of the first phase.

DeRust is situated on land situated between the Blue Haze Mall, Hazyview Township and Shabalala and will house around 200 stands in a secure complex.

The project was started in 2007, when the land was purchased from Omega Landgoed by developers, Pinzari Ltd. The process of obtaining township rights, changing zoning and negotiating with the relevant authorities to get municipal services, electricity, water and sewerage systems, was then started.

This investment is encouraging as it means the town is regarded as a promising option for investors.

In 2014 Pinzari Ltd received the final approval and got the go-ahead to develop the land as part of town.

The estate is set to be completely fenced, with security guards and have its own complete sewerage treatment plant and water purification system. Residents will also have electricity provided by Eskom and municipal services. It will have parks and a community office and there are even plans to establish a private school.

The development is interesting as home- owners have the option to expand their houses as their family grows. “Homeowners can start off small and add rooms on to the house as their income grows or they have more money available,” says general manager Kobus Koekemoer.

The first luxury home of the first phase was recently completed and an info day was held on Sunday to inform potential buyers of developments in the project.

Local estate agents as well as Koekemoer were astounded at the overwhelming number of people who arrived to explore the house and attend the presentations.

A few of the estate agents and organisers remarked that people are looking for affordable and safe accommodation in town and want something tangible to invest their money in. “We’ve held info days before but with so many scams running these days, people want to know their money will be safe and they will be getting what they pay for,” one stated.

Installation of services will take place between April and August and construction of the houses will start in September. The duration of construction will depend on the number of buyers and their requirements.

The next info day is scheduled for May 10 and Koekemoer says they hope to have the basic house ready, furnished and a garden laid out by then.
