Local vet saves an injured dog’s life

BURGERSFORT – The life of the neglected dog that was run over by an unknown motorist at the parking of the Printex building, was saved by local vet, Dr Charlene Klopper.
The injured dog was first spotted by Mr Simon Mathabatha on Monday March 16 in the afternoon, and he informed Steelburger/Lydenburg News.
The paper immediately contacted the SPCA but was told that it could not travel as far as Burgersfort to fetch the dog. Klopper was then called and she volunteered to assist the animal. Mathabatha and Steelburger/Lydenubrg News’ two reporters helped in transporting the dog to the Thaba Phala Animal Clinic.
On Tuesday, Klopper confirmed that the dog was safe and recovering well. “He had multiple injuries to his fibula and it looks like he was bitten by other dogs before the accident. We did an X-ray and had all the lacerations fixed. I also cleaned the wounds,” she said.
Klopper thanked Suzan Pretorius of SupaQuick who donated funds for the treatment. The dog is still at Thaba Phala clinic, and if anyone wishes to adopt him, they can call the paper’s Burgersfort offices on 013-231-7924.
Thaba Phala’s management said they are dedicated to helping animals in this town, and lambasted people who abused animals. The clinic is situated at Aloe Ridge East, Mosesane Street and is open from 09:00 to 16:00.
