Eco-Adventure Club has fun with fire

The process of making fire has fascinated man for centuries. It also provided hours of fun for the members of Summerhill Prep School’s Eco-Adventure Club on March 13.

The Eco-Adventure Club members experimented with flints and once they had their fires lit, prepared stick bread and banana desserts over hot coals.

Besides polishing their fire-lighting skills, they are learning to tie different types of knots. So far pupils had been taught how to do the reef knot, bowline, round turn and half hitches.

The Eco-Adventure Club provides pupils with the opportunity to learn more about nature, teaches them about conservancy and survival skills. This is part of the school’s commitment to green education and their efforts as part of the local conservancy.
