Samantha Neil and Anthony Beyleveld found

MBOMBELA – The whereabouts of Ms Samantha Neil (19) and Mr Anthony Beyleveld (36) were finally established when they made telephonic contact with Beyleveld’s mother, Ms Helen Beyleveld, yesterday.

“This was confirmed by Snoopers Investigation Services owner, Mr Juandré Rautenbach. “They’ve been spotted in The Bluff, Amanzimtoti and Durban recently. The call was made from Durban’s beachfront.” Rautenbach has been investigating Neil and Beyleveld’s whereabouts since they were reported as missing at the Mbombela SAPS last week.

According to Rautenbach, Neil and Beyleveld want to return to Mbombela. “However, they feel that they cannot return as they have caused too much trouble already. We have contacted Grant Neil, Samantha’s father, in Mozambique, who indicated that he was willing to fetch them in Durban.”

After his arrival in Durban, Grant Neil got hold of Samantha who indicated that she will be returning home with him and is currently on her way back. Beyleveld on the other hand has chosen to stay in Kwa-Zulu Natal where he will try to secure a job and a life for himself.

The paper previously relayed the sequence of events that led to the creation of an online campaign in search of the two missing Lowvelders. According to Ms Helen Beyleveld, her son, Anthony, was last seen last Friday afternoon. After he was reported as missing on Monday,Samantha’s disappearance was noticed by her mother on Tuesday. “We reported her as missing on Wednesday,” Ms Stella Neil said.

An online campaign was launched to spread the news of Samantha’s disappearance and, after it was suggested that she might be in Anthony’s company, Facebook users joined the search for the two missing persons. CCTV footage confirmed that the two have been travelling together since last Monday. Ms Melanie Barnard reported seeing them walk towards the train track near the taxi rank in Mbombela with only the clothes on their backs on Tuesday. A source close to the investigation confirmed that they had acquired large bags which they were seen carrying later that day. This sparked rumours of involvement in drug-related activities, which their families denied.

The duo’s movements have been monitored by members of the public in KwaZulu-Natal over the past few days. After it was confirmed by the SAPS that Samantha had withdrawn money from an ATM in The Bluff on Monday night, they were spotted on Amanzimtoti’s beach.

“Another call came in from a woman in The Bluff who reported seeing Anthony on Monday,” Rautenbach confirmed on Wednesday. On Thursday, he reported that they were last seen in the company of an unknown male at the Edward Hotel in Durban. “According to an eyewitness, they were moving through the stalls close to the hotel. The informant said that Samantha looked very out of place, which is what had attracted his attention. “The three moved swiftly and disappeared from view,” Rautenbach said.
