The two suspected hijackers, aged 30 and 27, were arrested on Sunday and are currently under police guard at Themba Hospital.
According to White River SAPS communication officer, WO Gugulethu Phiri, the driver of the vehicle stated that he gave two hitchhikers a lift. One drew a firearm and pointed it at him. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.
Police were alerted to the incident and found the three injured men. They were rushed to Themba Hospital for treatment.
Other recent police successes include the arrest of four alleged thieves. Frank Sithole (31), Alfred Mabuza (27), Elmon Mkhonto (47) and Bruno Pimentel (31) appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court this morning on a charge of theft.
The suspects, three of whom are security guards, were arrested yesterday at Heidel Eggs for theft.
They were allegedly caught on video stealing and loading eggs into a vehicle, which then drove off.
