Problem with the power system causes unplanned outages
Eskom also assured customers that load-shedding was implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system and to ensure that maintenance was carried out in order to guarantee that the supply of electricity could be maintained in the long term.

BURGERSFORT – With rumours that town was not experiencing load-shedding, the paper spoke to consultants at Eskom who confirmed that it was indeed the case.
On Tuesday May 26 there was no planned load-shedding as Eskom had enough generating capacity to meet their demand.
According to an update on Eskom’s website, it promised to provide regular reports on the status of the power system through all the media platforms.
“Eskom would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by Monday night’s outage. This was caused by technical faults on our power generation fleet, resulting in the shortage of about 1000MW. Some of the units, such as unit 1 of the Arnot Power Station, have been brought back on stream overnight,” read a statement on the website.
Eskom also assured customers that load-shedding was implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system and to ensure that maintenance was carried out in order to guarantee that the supply of electricity could be maintained in the long term.
It urged all customers to partner to save at least 10 per cent of their electricity usage throughout the day.
Meanwhile disgruntled Bothashoek residents said they had not had electricity for two days in a row. “Last week was a difficult time for us, we did not have electricity on Thursday and Friday, this is getting out of hand,” complained
