Occupants lucky to have escaped death

The occupants in the other vehicle, although shaken by the incident, still managed to walk around on the scene to take stock of what had just happened.

MBOMBELA – A massive head-on collision occurred on the N4 near the Mara turn-off on Monday night which, miraculously, resulted in no fatalities.

This was hard to believe upon arrival at the accident scene as both bakkies involved were wrecked beyond repair.

One driver lost control of his Isuzu bakkie, which overturned and slammed straight into another bakkie that was travelling in the opposite direction towards Malalane.

The Isuzu was flattened to a piece of scrap metal and the other bakkie was also completely written off.

The occupants in the other vehicle, although shaken by the incident, still managed to walk around on the scene to take stock of what had just happened.

According to Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic, Mr André Denysschen, they arrived at midnight and treated the driver of the Isuzu bakkie. “The driver was only slightly injured and taken per ambulance to Rob Ferreira Hospital. The driver and four passengers in the other bakkie sustained no injuries,” he said.
