Local EFF member denies any wrongdoing in signature forging

Local EFF member and former provincial interim financial manager, Mr Sipho Sibiya, has cleared the air over allegations of him stealing money from the party's bank account.

KAMHLUSHWA – This follows an announcement by the EFF’s provincial chairman, Mr Collen Sedibe, alleging Sibiya’s involvement in the theft of the money.

Sibiya started by thanking all those who have supported him and his associates during the previous elections.

He has described the allegations raised against him as nothing other than a witch-hunt and political torture.

“I am a member of EFF in good standing, despite all this witch-hunt and the political torture that our members, especially those who did not support the current leadership or its faction before the people’s assembly, are suffering,” Sibiya said.

Sibiya along with now former EFF MP and chief whip, Ms Ayanda Tshabalala, and former EFF commissar, Ms Predacious Mbhalathi, were accused of forging Sedibe’s signature to embezzle R90 000.

Sibiya explained that there was no need for them to forge the signature, as it was of no importance.

He said, “Myself, commissar Ayanda Tshabalala and commissar Predacious Mbhalathi were officially appointed as signatories to the bank account, meaning two of us could do transactions. It is a fabricated lie that the signature of Collen Sedibe was forged as it was of no importance to the finances of EFF. He was not a signatory so how can a signatory be forged? Even a drunkard of note can see that there is no sense in his utterances.”

He furthermore added that legal steps had been initiated by his lawyers to establish if these allegations were made on behalf of the party.

“Our members should not worry, the allegations are aimed at defaming my integrity and prejudicing my career. My attorneys have since requested to be furnished with the allegations’statement, and have also written to the head office of the party to establish if these allegations were made on behalf of the party or in personal capacity,” Sibiya explained.

Sibiya explained that the EFF had a disciplinary policy which he believed if these allegations were something to go by, it would have been put into effect.

“However I can confirm that I have not been subjected to any disciplinary process and this is because I have not committed any misconduct,” Sibiya concluded.
