N4 open after protest

Angry protesters have barricaded the N4 this morning with rocks and traffic backed up for kilometres.

Corridor Gazette who was on the scene, was told by the rioters that they have had enough of bad service delivery from the ANC.

According to these Mjejane residents, they have been battling with water and electricity for 10 years and now they want their problems to be solved.

Corridor Gazette promised to air their grievances in the media and contacted the relevant political role players to deal with the situation. By time of uploading this, Ms Mariette Preddy of the DA was already on the scene.

The road was opened shortly after and traffic is flowing freely. Security companies and the local CPF and SAPS have however, advised the public to be on the alert when driving to and from Komatipoort through the Mjejane Trust area.

People are still standing around in groups presenting a dangerous traffic situation as they may cross the road at any time.

Corridor Gazette will address the situation with the local ANC spokesman, Mr Cyril Ripinga.
