A murder investigation and inquest are underway in Bushbuckridge after a man (33) fatally shot his girlfriend then himself.
According to police, the incident took place yesterday at around 09:00 at the girlfriend’s parental home at the Health Centre in Bushbuckridge. The man reportedly went to the woman’s home and an argument ensued in her bedroom. He then alledgedly pulled out the gun and fired the shots.
They were both certified dead at the scene and a post-mortem investigation is underway.
Police found that the firearm’s serial number was filed off and will send it to ballistics for investigation purposes.
The exact cause of the incident is still unknown.
Provincial police management urges families to gather together or seek professional assistance to solve misunderstandings and problems, instead of resorting to violence.
